Point to consider: people that without thinking try to utilize *any* build mentioned in The Scribe, whether or not it is a championship-winning build, are perhaps unlikely to have been effective otherwise anyway. In other words, if you just copy a build you see online, perhaps the problem ultimately lies with you and not whoever posted the build, regardless of the "authority" that you may assume the poster can claim (even though in this case none was claimed to begin with).

The Scribe aims to add immersion. It would best be likened to an in-game newspaper. It's not a "guide to mad skillz"; it's simply a record of the current state of the game as seen through a single character's eyes.

.-. wow this thread has been res sigged.

Glountz: It is RP oriented in the sense the character of the scribe lives in the GW universe. It is NOT a person behind a computer, typing what he sees. It is a character that travels around and can only speak from what he sees wherever he goes. It is not a person sitting there developing their character or rolling a dice.

The scribe adds atmosphere to OUR experience, some sense that what we do when we PvE matters or is known or can become part of a single universe.

It is not about skill promoting at all. The ride the lightning warrior build does suck. But thats not the point. From a character perspective, perhaps one who has seen many warriors before, a W/E with that skill is certainly novel and interesting.

---------------------------------------

I think the problem isnt in the Scribe, but rather the lack of any interesting being used by the PvE community that the scribe has run into. And we certainly cant put anything PvP related into the scribe because then Anet will just get more complaints about how much they like PvP more.

If you put a reporter in the middle of war, he can only report about war. If you put a reporter in the middle of farm country or something, dont expect anything other than what they can find around them.

In the end of the day....take it or leave it.

I dont care about the scribe's writings because I get my game info from the forums. But obviously he's not writing for people like me.

Thank you Thank you, an intelligent point of view! The Scribe is something for the PvE people, sorta like titles. Its there to let us know that somebody is actually paying attention to what we do, instead of focusing only on some uber 733t person who managed to bash somebody elses head in during PvP.(I'm not saying Pvp is stupid, just that the majority focus of the game is towards it) This is a nice handout to the Pve side, even if you don't read it. Its the thought that matters.
And sooner or later something really cool is gonna pop up that even the nay sayers will appreciate

Considering he occasionally has in-world info in advance of the dev info releases -- for instance, the new guild emblems going out, special weapon drops -- I'd say you're already right about the "something cool!"

The Scribe had told about the existance of the Totem Axe and the like before they were implemented.

It's to provide pve "background" for those that like pve or role playing.

This reminds me of FFXI Vanadeil time newspaper. It gave pve perspective, info about events going on, expanding background and info about the kingdoms.

I used a build similer to this to finally give a mesmer friend of mine the
thrashing he's had coming to him for some time.
The game offers a huge variety of possibilities, so many that I can't
find the time to try them all. I was in a zone the other day and was
disgusted when I realized that of the 18 warriors there, 16 of them
were wo/mo's. Now that's a crap build, but it's like a disease.
